    Egyptian Remittance Inflows Hit $29.7 Billion by July 2026, Official Data Shows

    CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – The Central Bank of Egypt announced that remittances from Egyptians working abroad amounted to approximately $29.7 billion during the first seven months of 2026. This figure reflects a 28.1% increase from roughly $23.2 billion during the same period in 2025. These numbers represent funds transferred home by Egyptians employed overseas and serve as the latest official data for the 2026 calendar year. The total is around $6.5 billion higher than the amount recorded during the first seven months of 2025.

    Remittances in July alone reached about $4.5 billion, representing a 20% rise from approximately $3.8 billion in July 2025. This monthly figure follows earlier increases observed earlier in 2026. Specifically, January remittances stood at about $3.5 billion, up 21% from $2.9 billion the previous year. February’s inflows totaled around $3.8 billion, marking a 25.7% increase from $3.0 billion in February 2025. The combined remittances for January and February contributed roughly $7.3 billion to the total recorded during the first seven months of 2026.

    On a fiscal-year basis, the total remittances reached approximately $47.3 billion for 2025/2026, reflecting a 29.6% increase from the $36.5 billion reported in fiscal 2024/2025. In June 2026, inflows were about $4.2 billion, compared to $3.6 billion in June 2025, representing a 15.6% growth. The entire fiscal year experienced an increase of around $10.8 billion. It is important to note that the fiscal-year data covers July 2025 through June 2026, while the $29.7 billion figure pertains to January through July 2026.

    Remittance inflows continue to grow at double-digit rates

    The Central Bank of Egypt also reported a record $41.5 billion in remittances for the calendar year 2025, surpassing the approximately $29.6 billion sent home in 2024 by 40.5%. This increase amounted to roughly $11.9 billion in dollar terms. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, remittances reached about $22.1 billion, compared to $17.1 billion in the same period the previous year, indicating a 29.6% rise.

    Remittances in December 2025 alone reached about $4.0 billion, a 24% increase from $3.2 billion in December 2024. The bank identified that amount as a monthly record at the time. By January 2026, the cumulative fiscal-year inflows had increased to $25.6 billion, reflecting a 28.4% rise from $20.0 billion. By February, the total reached approximately $29.4 billion, up from $23.0 billion a year earlier, which signifies a 28% increase over the eight months of the fiscal period.

    Official figures demonstrate sustained growth across reporting intervals

    The upward trend persisted into spring, with remittances from July through March of fiscal 2025/2026 totaling about $34.9 billion, a 32% increase from $26.4 billion. By April, the ten-month total climbed to approximately $39.2 billion, surpassing the previous year’s figure by 33.2%. In April alone, inflows reached about $4.3 billion, marking a 44% rise from $3.0 billion in April 2025. The monthly increase was roughly $1.3 billion in absolute terms.

    By May, fiscal-year remittances hit roughly $43.1 billion, a 31.2% increase from $32.8 billion in the same period last year. May inflows were approximately $3.9 billion, up 13.5% from about $3.4 billion in the previous year. The total for 11 months stood at about $10.3 billion higher than in the prior year. The fiscal year concluded with a total of $47.3 billion before July’s contribution pushed the 2026 calendar-year total to $29.7 billion. Throughout all recent official reports, both cumulative and monthly figures remained above their respective figures from the previous year.
