    Russian engineers launch AI robot for athletes’ training

    Engineers at Don State Technical University in Russia have unveiled an AI-powered training robot aimed at enhancing athletic performance while minimizing the risk of injury. The development is positioned as a response to a shortage of qualified trainers, particularly within educational institutions, offering athletes personalized support and supervision during their workouts. The robot integrates advanced video monitoring systems to observe an athlete’s movements in real-time.

    Using AI, it analyzes posture, technique, and biomechanics to provide immediate feedback. According to information released by the university’s press office, the system alerts users when it detects potentially harmful movements or improper form, helping to reduce the likelihood of injury during training sessions. In addition to real-time supervision, the robot offers fully customized training programs tailored to individual users.

    These programs are developed based on an athlete’s specific needs, including factors such as endurance, speed, and physical limitations. The AI system continuously adjusts these plans as the athlete progresses, ensuring that the guidance remains relevant and aligned with their goals. Weighing approximately five kilogrammes, the robot is highly mobile and can reach speeds of up to 25 kilometers per hour.
